At Aloura Family Practice, general consultations are at the heart of our practice. Our doctors are highly experienced in managing a wide range of everyday medical concerns for patients of all ages. Whether it’s a routine medical appointment or an unexpected illness, we’re here to support your health and wellbeing with compassionate, thorough care.
We understand that some health issues arise suddenly and require prompt attention. That’s why we offer same-day urgent appointments, which become available before our clinic opens each morning. You can book online via HotDoc or call our friendly Patient Advocate team for assistance.
Depending on your needs, our nursing team may conduct a brief telephone assessment to determine the urgency and guide you on the next steps. While we do our best to accommodate urgent issues, there may be situations where hospital care is more appropriate, and your safety will always be our top priority.
For convenience, prescription renewals for regular medications can also be requested through our secure online platform, HotDoc.
Please note that Aloura Family Practice does not prescribe opioids (strong pain medications) or benzodiazepines (such as Valium) to new patients, in line with our commitment to safe and responsible prescribing.
At Aloura Family Practice, we encourage you to see your regular GP for ongoing and chronic health matters. Continuity of care helps ensure that your doctor has a complete understanding of your medical history and can provide consistent management over time.
If your regular GP is unavailable, another doctor from our team will provide care and ensure your records remain up to date. For follow-up results, we recommend booking with your usual GP whenever possible to maintain continuity and ensure your care is well-coordinated.
Our standard appointments are 15 minutes in duration and are generally suitable for one or two straightforward concerns.
If you have several issues to discuss, are booking a mental health consultation, or require a more extended visit for procedures or women’s health care, please select a long appointment (30 minutes). This ensures that your doctor has adequate time to provide a thorough review and develop a personalised care plan. Long appointments can be booked easily online via HotDoc or by calling our reception team.
We also offer telehealth consultations for specific medical concerns that do not require a physical examination. These provide a convenient and secure way to speak with your GP from home or work using your phone or computer.

Please note that some conditions may still require an in-person visit, and your doctor will advise you if this is necessary.
We understand that medical issues can arise unexpectedly, including outside of clinic hours. If you need care when our practice is closed, you can:
